3 Ducks $20

Let’s face it, this one is not a hard sell. After baby penguins, ducks are without doubt, the cutest of birds. What’s more, this duck is helping a woman in Indonesia by providing them with nutritious eggs that they can eat or sell at the market for cash that can be spent rebuilding their lives. You’re already buying one, aren’t you?

How does this gift help?:

In Indonesia we support APIK NTB, an organisation providing legal help to women and children, victims of human trafficking and women who suffer from domestic violence or discrimination. It also provides them with funds to pay for things, like ducks, that help them rebuild their lives after domestic violence. Ducks provide eggs, which are not only a great source of nutrition, but extra eggs can be sold to pay for school fees, healthcare and other essentials.

“My husband abandoned me for a younger wife and left me with nothing. I had no money to look after our children… APIK gave me a small grant that I used to buy ducks. I’ve been breeding ducks and selling cooked, salted eggs. I’m now raising several goats as well and I can afford to send my daughter to college.” Genik Saba Village, central Lombok, Indonesia.

Purchases of Oxfam Unwrapped Ducks contribute to our gender justice work in Indonesia.
