Nutritional garden $20
Green thumbs love vegetables! When you buy this card you’ll be helping a community in East Timor beat malnutrition by planting a plot of spinach, carrots, onions and potatoes.
For people living in East Timor, “five plus a day” isn’t always possible. Oxfam works with Movimento Cooperativo Economico-Agricola, helping to provide families with a range of seeds and the gardening skills to grow a healthy, stable diet and reduce their chances of malnutrition.
With the provision of good quality seed, improvement of soil quality and training in the use of organic fertilisers, communities in East Timor are able to grow a wide variety of vegetables including carrots, potatoes, spinach and beans.
“Before we had the vegetable garden, my children were in a bad condition. My daughter was very skinny, but now she is healthy.” Lorensa Da Costa, East Timor.
Purchases of Oxfam Unwrapped Nutritional Gardens contribute to our rural livelihoods work in East Timor, Indonesia and Papua New Guinea.
