Samoa

Samoa lies half way between Hawaii and New Zealand. Its economy is highly dependent on agriculture and family remittances sent back from Samoans working overseas. It has a very young population, and underemployment is a critical issue.

Oxfam works closely with partner organisations and communities to improve Samoans’ livelihoods. A key area of work is Women in Business, through our partner WIBDI, an income generation and microfinance initiative aimed at strengthening communities.
